House of Arches

Built on a 4,000 sq.ft. land, this place was structured and designed to reflect the Mediterranean characteristics. The challenge we faced was to build a Mediterranean bungalow that functionally complements the humid climatic conditions of Kerala. Windows and sun sheets were two vital features incorporated to achieve that objective. We increased the thickness of the wall by 18-inches that offered the required thermal mass to protect the wall from the sun, as well as bring about a traditional constructional charm. Windows were inserted into the wall and protected through vineyards and arched veranda. An intricate playfulness of volume of heights has been reflected in both, the interior and exterior of the place.
